Qualification of API Courses

API Certifications are powerful assets for inspectors and other personnel looking to advance their careers. They enable a person to separate themselves from the pack by demonstrating their knowledge, skills, and experience to potential employers or clients, At URS Inspection Egypt we manage the following API courses.

1- API 570 Certification Examination Preparatory Course

The American Petroleum Institute (API) conducts training classes that can help you understand and use the techniques piping inspection, evaluation and repair.

The ASME and API design codes and standards for pressurized equipment provide rules for the design, fabrication, inspection, and testing of new pressure vessels, piping systems, and storage tanks. These codes typically do not provide assessment procedures to evaluate degradation due to in-service environmentally-induced damage or from original fabrication that may be found during subsequent inspections.

API 570 cover all the requirement for in-service inspection, assessment and repair for piping system in hydrocarbon, chemical and petrochemical plants.

2- API 571 Damage Mechanisms in Refinery Industry

Facilitator lead classroom training modules with study of API Codes
Reviewing example problems and solutions
Solving practice problems and reviewing detailed solutions
There will be quizzes throughout the course.
There will be reading and take home assignments.

3- API 576 Safety Relief Valve Inspection, Maintenance, Operation and Repair

A safety or pressure relief valve can be considered the most important single safety device on a boiler or pressure vessel. If it fails to function in the manner for which it was intended and an overpressure condition develops, the result could be catastrophic.

Like all mechanical devices, pressure relief valves require periodic maintenance and repair. To properly carry out repairs, it is essential that the work be done by trained personnel under controlled conditions, using proper parts and procedures.

This State-of-the-Art workshop is developed by The American “National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors”. The National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors’ Executive Committee, realizing the importance of proper and adequate repair of safety relief valves, approved the issuance of a National Board Certificate of Authorization for Valve Repair and a “VR” stamp to qualified organizations. Such organizations are required to maintain a quality

control system covering valve repairs and be able to adequately demonstrate this system. In addition, a committee was formed to develop administrative procedures and rules for the repair of valves. This committee recommended a workshop on

valve repair to help ensure that those who carry out this work are capable and knowledgeable. Hence, don't blow off this chance to learn the latest information on pressure relief systems from the ones who developed the Standard of the Safety

4-API 577 Welding Inspection and Metallurgy

This course has been designed to train individuals who are interested in obtaining detailed knowledge of welding & metallurgy

The American Petroleum Institute (API) conducts training classes that can help you understand and use the techniques of welding and fundamentals of metallurgy and material science.

This recommended practice (RP) provides guidance to inspector on welding inspection as encountered with fabrication and repair of refinery and chemical plant equipment and piping. This RP includes descriptions of common welding processes, welding procedures, welder qualifications, metallurgical effects from welding, and inspection techniques to aid the inspector in fulfilling their role.

The ASME and API design codes and standards for pressurized equipment provide rules for the design, fabrication, inspection, and testing of new pressure vessels, piping systems, and storage tanks. These codes typically do not provide welding and NDE procedures

API 577 give you the main welding processes advantages and limitation, welding defects criteria, location and suitable NDE for detection.

The main emphasis of this programme is on improving and ensuring safety through the use of owner / user or third-party inspectors specialized in Oil and Gas requirements in a manner that protects employees, the public, and the environment.

The course also provides the understanding of the welding requirements for fabrication, inspection and testing portions of ASME Codes for new construction and how they work with API Codes for post construction inspection, repairs and alterations.

It provides the process, oil, gas, petrochemical and other process industries with the assurance that personnels trained and certified under this internationally recognized programme have the required knowledge and experience for the job in the field.

Course participants aspiring to be certified by American Petroleum Institute will undergo a rigorous programme to get them well versed with the various code books and standards, including API Standards that cover maintenance, inspection, rating, repair and alteration of related equipments.

5-API 579 Fitness for Service Course (FFS)

The American Petroleum Institute (API) conducts training classes that can help you understand and use the techniques Fitness-For-Service Assessments of pressurized equipment including pressure vessels, piping, and tankage.

Fitness-For-Service (FFS) assessments are engineering evaluations that are performed to demonstrate the structural integrity of an in-service component containing a flaw or damage. The first edition of API 579 was developed to provide guidance for conducting FFS assessments of flaws commonly encountered in the refining and petrochemical industry that occur in pressure vessels, piping, and tankage. However, the assessment procedures have been used to evaluate flaws encountered in other industries such as the pulp and paper industry, fossil electric power industry, and nuclear industry.

API and ASME formed a joint committee to produce a single FFS Standard that can be used for pressure-containing equipment. This standard, released in 2007, is known as API 579- 1/ASME FFS-1. The new joint standard includes all topics contained in the 2007 Edition of API 579 and includes new parts covering FFS assessment procedures that address the unique damage mechanisms experienced by other industries such as the fossil electric power industry and the pulp and paper industry.

6-API 580 CERTIFICATION PREPARATION COURSE FOR ADVANCED RISK BASED INSPECTION (RBI)

This course is designed to train individuals to understand the reasons for and benefits of implementing RBI.

This course will impart knowledge to the participant so that one can effectively plan successful RBI projects and prepare risk-based inspection plans and optimize maintenance and inspection intervals.

Focused on methodology of actual implementation of RBI in Oil & Gas and other process industry.

It covers advanced knowledge of RBI implementation in addition to the knowledge required for passing the API 580 Certification Examination.

7-API 1169 Pipeline Inspector

-Facilitator lead classroom training modules with study of API Codes
-Reviewing example problems and solutions
-olving practice problems and reviewing detailed solutions
-There will be quizzes throughout the course.
-There will be reading and take home assignments.
